The impact of perception
Subject 002
Subject:
In May 1973, mysterious objects appeared on Anholt, sparking a national mystery that lasted 40 years. Anonymous letters and satanic looking coins were found in churches nationwide. The orchestrator, Knud Langkow, was not a satanist but a wise, peaceful man who despised trivial matters and human foolishness. His life’s work remained a secret until his passing in 2003.
Admiration:
I first encountered this project in 2001 when a friend participated in an amateur documentary about the supposed satanic cult. The mystery was intriguing, and when the truth about the coins was revealed in 2003, my fascination grew. My admiration for this event is multifaceted.
Prejudices and perception are powerful forces that shape our understanding of the world and influence our emotions and actions. Perception acts as a filter for interpreting events, situations, and people. However, distorted or incorrect perceptions can lead to misguided emotions and actions. Knud’s work highlights the importance of challenging perceptions, prejudices, and fostering dialogue on culture, faith, and tolerance. Additionally, the ”satanic” coins, now part of the danefæ collection, emphasize significant cultural and historical value.
Knud Langkow orchestrated other intriguing but lesser-known projects, which might inspire another VSAI subject.
Illustration:
The coin plays an important symbolic role in this event, so I illustrated them. The pillars represent cultural institutions, museums, and churches where the coins were secretly hidden in cracks and other places. The 2 faced Sun is beautiful symbol of balance of life - The sun which is life giving and the medusa head which is life taking.
